awardHi kids,

our Year 5 blog won the 2011 Istek Blog awards! :-)

I would like to thank all of you for your participation, enthusiasm and the over 350 comments you left on this blog! Many thanks to all the children of the 5th grade and also to your teachers Gita, Molly and Seçil! And of course to all the people that voted for us!

This also a good time to ask you how we can make this blog even better next year. So, please leave a comment and let us know:

  • what you liked most on the blog, and why?
  • what you didn’t like at all, and why?
  • what you would like to see extra next year?
  • anything else you would like to share with us.

Congratulations!

maria-sharapova-240Hello Fifth grade students!

I love being active and feeling healthy. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said that “A healthy mind is in a healthy body.” He even dedicated a special day to honor sports and children on the 19th of May.

This school year is almost over and I am looking forward to summer. How about you? In the summer time I love to play sports outside. My favorite summer sports are tennis and surfing. My favorite winter sports are snowboarding and ice hockey. It is great to be outside and these games are a fun way to stay healthy and fit.

My favorite sport to watch is basketball! The NBA (National Basketball Association) playoffs are going on right now in the USA. The team that I love, the Portland Trailblazers are done for the season, so I am very sad. The best player on the team is Brandon Roy. He is a very strong player and a great team leader. He may not be the most famous athlete in the NBA but I admire his skills and agility.

I want to know what sports you love to play and watch.

  • What is your favorite sport to play in the summer?
  • What is your favorite sport to play in the winter?
  • What is your favorite sport to watch?
  • Tell about your favorite team or players.

I look forward to hearing your answers.

See you …

SpongeBobCrazy220This is the final part of the Student’s Own Story (SOS) series! In this series, the teachers wrote the introduction of the story, and every week a group of students wrote an extra paragraph to continue the story.

As the school year ran towards the end, the story got longer and longer, and students more excited and curious :-)

Hi kids,

for this week’s game you need to know your numbers AND be very quick. Watch the video below for my personal introduction of the game.

Ready? Click here to start playing the Number Hunt!

As usual, please leave a comment to let us know what you think of the game, and how many numbers you could find in 60 seconds.

Have fun and good luck :-)
