The first exchange student program was with Corderius College three years ago and since then we have been working with this school. The three devoted teachers have always been the same; Wilhelm, Fincy and Mieke. These three teachers and 24 students of theirs spent a wonderful week in Istanbul between May 9th and 16th. We took sightseeing tours in our beautiful  city. We also had the chance to attend the Spring Fest at Yeditepe University, where we had a great time. We are looking forward to meeting them in Amersfort in September.

İlk kez üç yıl önce Corderius College ile başladığımız öğrenci değişim programı, 9-16 Mayıs tarihlerinde 3. kez gerçekleştirildi. Proje danışman öğretmenleri her yıl olduğu gibi bu yıl da Wilhelm, Mieke ve Fincy idi. Öğretmenlerin güler yüzü ve yakın ilgisi Hollandalı öğrencilerimizin kısa sürede Türkiye’ye uyumlarını sağladı. Hollandalı öğrenciler, hem okulumuzda eşlerinin derslerine girdiler, hem de İstanbul’da günlük şehir turlarının tadını çıkardılar. 11 Mayıs Çarşamba günü Yeditepe Üniversitesi’ndeki “Bahar şenliği” de programımıza renk kattı. Her programda olduğu gibi, yedinci günün sonunda Hollandalı dostlarımızla vedalaşmak zorunda kaldık. Eylül ayında Amersfort’ta dostlarımızla yeniden görüşmek üzere….

İstek Belde Primary School Singing Club Members performed a great show on April 23rd. We congratulate our students and our beloved teachers Darlene & Carol for their successful and excellent performance.

İstek Belde İlköğretim Okulu İngilizce Şarkı Kulübü 23 Nisan tarihinde muhteşem bir şov segiledi. Öğrencilerimizi ve sevgili öğretmenlerimiz  Darlene ve Carol’ı başarılı ve kusursuz sunumlarından ötürü kutluyoruz.

Our third graders did their best in the  last Spelling Bee Competition of the academic year . All of our students took place on the stage and the show was full of fun and energy. We congratulate our spelling bees and wish them more successful competitions  which  will let them be a part of English Language.

3. Sınıf öğrencilerimiz senenin son ‘Spelling Bee’ yarışmasında İngilizce başarılarını sergilediler. Tüm Öğrencilerimizin katıldığı yarışmada sahneye eğlence ve dinamiklik hakimdi.Her biri muhteşem birer ‘Spelling Bee’ olan öğrencilerimizi kutluyor, İngilizceyi hissederek yaşadıkları nice başarılar diliyoruz.

19 students and 2 teachers from ESCOLA Artistica e Profissional Arvore , PORTO paid a visit to our school on 11th April. Our students hosted the Portuguese students in their homes for a week. They had the opportunity to see many places in Istanbul like the Galata Tower, Dolmabahçe Palace, and Istinye Park. Hence, learning about Istanbul, its people and their ways of life and traditions. We were unhappy to see them leave on Monday, 18th April. Our students are looking forward to visiting them in Porto in June.

Portekiz-Türkiye Öğrenci Değişim Programı

Porto’daki ESCOLA Artistica e Profissional Arvore okulundan 19 öğrenci beraberinde 2 öğretmenleriyle birlikte 11 Nisan’da ziyaretimize geldi.Öğrencilerimiz onları evlerinde bir hafta misafir ettiler. Galata Kulesi, Dolmabahçe Sarayı ve İstinye Park gibi pek çok turistik yeri ziyaret etme fırsatları oldu.Böylece; İstanbul’u, insanlarını, onların yaşam tarzı ve geleneklerini öğrendiler. 18 Nisan Pazartesi misafirlerimizi malesef ülkelerine uğurladık. Bizim öğrencilerimiz de onları Haziran ayında Porto’da ziyaret edecekler.

Belde hosted the second ESN group of students  from Germany-15 students from Zulpich. The programme was a great success. Both the teachers and the students had a wonderful time in Istanbul, where the weather was amazingly sunny and warm. On the 18th of March, we sadly sent them back to Germany. As they were leaving, they took the sun with them and I think, they will keep it until our students pay their visit back in May

Now, we are looking forward to the arrival of the students from Portugal!

ISTEK Belde Okulları, ESN Öğrenci Değişim Programı’nın ikinci grubunu ağırladı. Almanya, Zulpich’ten gelen öğrenci ve öğretmenler, İstanbul’un güneşli günlerinin tadını çıkardılar. Program, her iki okul için de büyük bir başarıyla tamamlandı. 11 Mart’ta İstanbul’a gelen Alman öğretmen ve öğrencilere, 18 Mart’ta  veda ederken hepimiz çok üzüldük. Mayıs ayında Almanya’da buluşacak olan öğrenciler, ömür boyu sürecek dostluklarının da temelini atmış oldular.

Sırada Portekiz ve Hollanda’dan gelecek olan gruplar var, hepsini dört gözle bekliyoruz.

Our little creative 2^nd and 3^rd graders are taking part in an interesting competition held by British Council. The theme for this year’s exhibition is ‘My Friend from Outer Space’ The   competition is open to children between 7-11. Each child can only send one picture and of course, the picture must be based on the activity theme.

SOME DETAILS ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The Young Learner Art Workshop aims to encourage creativity and artistic skills amongst children. It started on 25 February and the deadline for submission is 25 March 2011. Many entries are going to be turned into a cartoon by TRT Çocuk (Çizgi Film Makinası) and displayed on TV, on British Council’s web site and on the International Children Festival in Istanbul on 23 April 2011.

UZAYLI ARKADAŞIM – ÇOCUKLAR İÇİN RESİM ATÖLYESİ 2011

Bir gün Billy ve Splodge yeşil gezegeni, mavi gezegeni, kırmızı gezegeni, pembe gezegeni ve sarı gezegeni ziyaret ederler. Bu ziyaretlerinde uzayda yeni arkadaşlar ararlar.

Boya kutularınızı açın, fırçalarınızı hazırlayın ve renklerinizi seçin. Çünkü Çocuklar için Resim Atölyesi başlıyor! British Council, Türkiye’nin her yerinden çocukları resim yapmaya davet ediyor.

 “Uzaylı Arkadaşım” sanat etkinliği ile çocukların sanatsal ve yaratıcı becerilerinin geliştirmesi amaçlanıyor. Bu seneki etkinlik 25 Şubat’ta başlayadı ve başvurular 25 Mart 2011’e kadar kabul edilecek. Seçilen resimler TRT Çocuk Kanalı’nın, “Çizgi Film Makinesi” adlı programında, British Council web sitesinde ve 23 Nisan’da İstanbul’da gerçekleştirilecek Uluslararası Çocuk Festivali’nde sergilenecek.

ESU Turkey International Public Speaking 2011 finals took place on March 10th at the premises of Hisar Schols, Kemerburgaz. Ufuk Siret Ünsal from 11 B attended the workshops in January and  took part in the competition. It was a unique opportunity to compete with 12 distinguished high schools. We’d like to congratulate him on his kind efforts and contribution. 

10 Mart tarihinde Hisar Okullarında gerçekleştirilen Hazırlıklı Konuşma Yarışmasına okulumuzdan 11B sınıfı öğrencisi Ufuk Siret Ünsal katılmıştır. Öğrencimiz Oıcak ayında düzenlenen seminerlere katılmış ve yarışmada okulumuzu en iyi şekilde temsil etmiştir. Kendisini gayretinden ve katkılarından dolayı tebrik ederiz.

Smurfs,  Sea Stars, Daisies, Ladybirds,& Butterflies were on the stage on the 12th of March to show their parents how much their English had improved.

Belde’nin en küçük üyeleri, Şirinler, Deniz Yıldızları, Papatyalar, Uğur Böcekleri ve Kelebekler, 12 Mart 2011 Cumartesi günü “Geleneksel İngilizce Günü Gösterisi” ile hem öğretmenlerini hem de anne ve babalarını büyülediler.

Drama, Beden Eğitimi, Resim ve Müzik derslerinde de İngilizce öğretmenleriyle olan minik sanatçılarımız, sahnede akıcı İngilizceleriyle çok rahattılar. Sevgili Minik Beldelileri ve Değerli Anaokulu Öğretmenlerimizi kutluyorum, sizleri izlerken öyle güzel zaman geçirdik ki, bu günü ve bu güzel gösteriyi hiç unutmayacağım.

International Women’s Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women’s Day is marked on the 8th of March every year It is a major day of global celebration of women. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political and social achievements.

Women’s Day is meant to appreciate those who have the biggest but quietest influence in our lives. It can be mom who balances work and home beautifully or grandma who stuns you with her spirit and courage. It might be your daughter, sister, wife or a friend. It might be your teacher who inspired you to….

I’d love to hear from people who would like to share their beautiful stories about notable women in their lives. Get down and onto it

8 Mart Dünya Kadınlar Günü, kadının ekonomik, sosyal ve politik başarısının ve kadına olan sevginin vurgulandığı bir gündür. Dünyadaki tüm “özel kadınların” kadınlar gününü kutluyor, hak ettikleri sevgi ve saygıyı her gün hissedebilecekleri bir dünyada, huzurla yaşamalarını diliyorum.

LISTENING AND SPEAKING WORKHOP OF 7TH GRADES AT BELDE

 We were ancient kids!

First we worked in small groups and made a research on Greek ancient kids! We talked about growing up in that time and place focusing on the topics such as school, families, ceremonies, gifts, toys, and foods. We also tried to put our foot in their shoes and discussed how girls and boys were treated and how brothers and sisters might have felt about each other. We gathered information about that culture and tried to create a clear picture of Greek kids. Were they different from us? Yes, indeed! If you are interested in the topic, read the informative text in 7th grades’ literature book: Keystone.

Was that enough for the enthusiastic and curious students like us? Nooooooo….We wrote a script in small groups-at least a girl and a boy, in some groups a narrator. Some of us found costumes to perform their skit. After each performance, we evaluated each group’s presentation by using our teachers’ checklist.

 Always keep in mind: A good way to improve your speaking and listening skills is to evaluate your own performance and the performances of your classmates. When you evaluate yourself, don’t you think about what you did well and what you can do better!
